I didn't realize that it's been so long since I last posted! 15 days. Wow.
Anyway...I am currently on vacation with my hubby and Peanut. We are enjoying the warm/hot weather in Georgia. Every year we rent a condo on the ocean at Easter. It's like getting a week long massage.
Day One
We left Thursday after hubby and I got out of work. We drove to Akron, OH where we stopped a hotel for the night. The hotel was a chain that we always stay at because the price is usually reasonable and the rooms are nice, etc. Well, this hotel looked fine until we walked into our room. The walls were water stained and the wallpaper was peeling. Then, I noticed that the comforters on the beds were turned back and the pillows were missing. We checked the bathroom...no towels. Ok. Everything looked clean, so I went to the desk and explained to the profusely sweating man at the desk (even though the hotel was a comfortable/cool temperature)that there were no pillows or towels. He looked at me as though I had two heads and said he'd just give me a new room. So I went and got Hubby and Peanut and went back to the desk. Before he gave us our new room, he went and looked at the old one (to make sure we weren't lying?). He then sent us to the room next to the first one.
This room was pretty much like the first, except it had pillows and towels. The sheets were clean (I checked first thing) although the overall room wasn't up to my usual standards (too many cobwebs, etc.), and I didn't want Hubby getting cranky with me because I was complaining. For once, I kept my mouth shut.
We started to settle in. I unpacked my laptop to check the next days weather and look for construction projects that might slow us down. When I went to plug in the laptop, I noticed that the lamp next to the table was coming unplugged, so I plugged it in. WRONG thing to do!!! Sparks flew everywhere...I got a little zap...and everything went dark in our room. Hubby wanted to know what the "heck" had I done. I told him, then said I'd go let the man at the front desk know what had happened.
Even though it wasn't my fault, I felt bad. The man (as unsociable as he was...he spoke in grunts) must be thinking I was a TOTAL pain. But...back I went to the front desk and explained what had happened. He moved us again to a new room...upstairs. When he said this, I asked him what the weather was supposed to be...I didn't feel safe on the second floor if were going to storm. I'd not been having good luck thus far and didn't relish the idea of being hit by lightening. The man didn't even crack a smile, instead he just asked for my key back (from room 2). I handed him the key, I noticed that my hand was black in one spot. I also had a nice little red mark. Hmmm. I really did get a zap. It turned out that the black was just a little soot, and the red spot was gone by the next morning. Anyway...when I got back to the room to get Hubby and Peanut, Hubby took one look at my hand and said, "We are not staying here. You were almost electracuted!!" It was so sweet! He's never protective! I was touched...but made him go to the desk this time.
So, we packed everything up and drove down the road a bit to the Hampton. Hubby swears he'll never stay anywhere else. Fine with me. I know I'll never plug another lamp into the wall again!!
Day Two-Four
The rest of our trip to GA was uneventful. We stopped in NC to visit my cousin who had just moved down. He was happy to see us, as we were his first visitors from home.
We've now spent two beautiful days on the beach. This morning, we attended Church services on the beach (a wonderful first time experience) and Peanut hunted for Easter Eggs around the condo. I'm turning a "wonderful" pink shade (the curse of red hair and green eyes...my mom and one brother have red hair and brown eyes and tan)that for me is a "tan". I'm looking forward to more days in the 80's/high 70's. Yesterday was between 93 and 95 degrees. HOT!
Happy Easter!

No Place Like Home!
It's true...there is no place like home!! I find that no matter how much you look forward to a trip, time alone, or enjoy yourself while you're away that coming home is usually the best part of a trip.
I was gone all day Tuesday for work (parent conferences) and didn't get to see Peanut, except for about a half hour while I was getting ready for work. The same on Wednesday, expect that afternoon I left on a trip to the other side of the state for a conference. I have been looking forward to this "educational conference" and was excited to go. However, I have never been away from Peanut for this long. I missed him SO much!! Thankfully, Hubby was very supportive and made me feel better about being away.
The conference was very good and a good bonding experience with my co-workers that went also. I learned a lot...even about myself. I truly need to get fit. I am chronologically the youngest of the group by about 20 years. However, I am the oldest (a lot of times) in how I handle my social life (not sure if that is the correct phrasing). They were ready and rarin' to go every morning at 6:30. Not a biggie. I was up for it. However, they also were up to spending every evening out at a bar, a comedy club, etc. Due to having Peanut at home and a bad liver, I don't go to the bar often...ok. I rarely go to the bar any more (and I used to love to go to the bar and drink). I kept up with them but, with the exception of the comedy club...which was SO smoky, I would have rather spent the time in my hotel room watching a movie or reading a book. I tell myself its because I am the only one that has a little one at home (the others, if they have kids, have grown kids) and I don't get as much "me" time as they do. Maybe. Or maybe I'm not as fit as they are.
Besides a good conference, I came home to good news. I stepped on the scale and discovered that I had lost 3 pounds while I was away!! Yippee!!! I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it was only a couple of days and...wow! Now we just need to see if I can keep it off. That isn't the only good news. I had visitors! Thankfully, not to my house (it's very messy)...to my blog! Five people stopped by...a couple even stayed a bit. I even had one comment!! Woo hoo!!!
I do have to say though, that as thrilled as I was to get a comment, I was ashamed that it had to be on a posting where I was being a big baby (which I've been being a lot lately...not so much here as in my daily interactions with friends and family). BUT...I'm still happy I got a comment. Thank you SO much!
Well, I need to get some things done. Tomorrow is another busy day. I have tickets to see my favorite musical on it's last tour, so I won't be getting much done. The rest of my time will be spent with Hubby and Peanut.
Enjoy the remainder of your weekend...I will!
