I didn't realize that it's been so long since I last posted! 15 days. Wow.
Anyway...I am currently on vacation with my hubby and Peanut. We are enjoying the warm/hot weather in Georgia. Every year we rent a condo on the ocean at Easter. It's like getting a week long massage.
Day One
We left Thursday after hubby and I got out of work. We drove to Akron, OH where we stopped a hotel for the night. The hotel was a chain that we always stay at because the price is usually reasonable and the rooms are nice, etc. Well, this hotel looked fine until we walked into our room. The walls were water stained and the wallpaper was peeling. Then, I noticed that the comforters on the beds were turned back and the pillows were missing. We checked the bathroom...no towels. Ok. Everything looked clean, so I went to the desk and explained to the profusely sweating man at the desk (even though the hotel was a comfortable/cool temperature)that there were no pillows or towels. He looked at me as though I had two heads and said he'd just give me a new room. So I went and got Hubby and Peanut and went back to the desk. Before he gave us our new room, he went and looked at the old one (to make sure we weren't lying?). He then sent us to the room next to the first one.
This room was pretty much like the first, except it had pillows and towels. The sheets were clean (I checked first thing) although the overall room wasn't up to my usual standards (too many cobwebs, etc.), and I didn't want Hubby getting cranky with me because I was complaining. For once, I kept my mouth shut.
We started to settle in. I unpacked my laptop to check the next days weather and look for construction projects that might slow us down. When I went to plug in the laptop, I noticed that the lamp next to the table was coming unplugged, so I plugged it in. WRONG thing to do!!! Sparks flew everywhere...I got a little zap...and everything went dark in our room. Hubby wanted to know what the "heck" had I done. I told him, then said I'd go let the man at the front desk know what had happened.
Even though it wasn't my fault, I felt bad. The man (as unsociable as he was...he spoke in grunts) must be thinking I was a TOTAL pain. But...back I went to the front desk and explained what had happened. He moved us again to a new room...upstairs. When he said this, I asked him what the weather was supposed to be...I didn't feel safe on the second floor if were going to storm. I'd not been having good luck thus far and didn't relish the idea of being hit by lightening. The man didn't even crack a smile, instead he just asked for my key back (from room 2). I handed him the key, I noticed that my hand was black in one spot. I also had a nice little red mark. Hmmm. I really did get a zap. It turned out that the black was just a little soot, and the red spot was gone by the next morning. Anyway...when I got back to the room to get Hubby and Peanut, Hubby took one look at my hand and said, "We are not staying here. You were almost electracuted!!" It was so sweet! He's never protective! I was touched...but made him go to the desk this time.
So, we packed everything up and drove down the road a bit to the Hampton. Hubby swears he'll never stay anywhere else. Fine with me. I know I'll never plug another lamp into the wall again!!
Day Two-Four
The rest of our trip to GA was uneventful. We stopped in NC to visit my cousin who had just moved down. He was happy to see us, as we were his first visitors from home.
We've now spent two beautiful days on the beach. This morning, we attended Church services on the beach (a wonderful first time experience) and Peanut hunted for Easter Eggs around the condo. I'm turning a "wonderful" pink shade (the curse of red hair and green eyes...my mom and one brother have red hair and brown eyes and tan)that for me is a "tan". I'm looking forward to more days in the 80's/high 70's. Yesterday was between 93 and 95 degrees. HOT!
Happy Easter!
